New 3rd Term Camper Arrival Protocol:

We are requiring a NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST before your camper’s arrival to camp within this next week. Parents will be able to choose the test that is readily available in your area. Please bring a copy of the negative results to hand in on Opening Day, as well as, the completed Health Screening Form. Please contact our office with questions – office@campmystic.com.

June 9, 2021

As of June 8th, the Texas Department of State Health Services has given youth camps new guidelines to operate. They are all positive changes that we have been hoping for and will begin implementing in the coming days!

  • Masks
  • We will continue to hand out masks on Opening Day in the event that the camper would like to wear one!
  • Opening Day
  • We will continue with the drive through Opening Day as previously stated for all terms.
  • The campers and counselors will be required to complete the 7-day temperature log and turn in the Health Screening Form upon arrival.
  • Staff will be required to submit proof of a negative PCR test or their vaccination card prior to their arrival to Mystic.
  • Comings and Goings for Campers
  • While it is still discouraged as it is disruptive to camp life, it is something that we can accommodate under special circumstances! Other than emergencies, any special situations requiring a camper to leave camp during the term must be approved by the directors prior to the start of camp. Your daughter’s involvement in particular activities could be affected by her absence (eg., war canoe).
  • Closing Events
  • Parents will be allowed to come to the Awards Ceremony!
  • We will send more information that is term specific via e-mail as these dates approach.
  • We are so excited for the opportunity to greet you all inside the Mystic gates! Please call the Camp Mystic office or e-mail with any questions! 830-238-4660 or office@campmystic.com.

    April 19, 2021

We are so excited about summer 2021! The Texas Department of State Health Services, our licensing body, has given us recommendations to open safely again this summer. Please know that these are subject to change and we will keep you updated as any changes are made by the Texas DSHS. At this point, we wanted to give you a framework of how we will approach this summer.

Ultimately, the choice to come to camp this summer is up to you and we want you to feel confident in that decision after reading the information we are providing. Should you and your family decide not to send your daughter to camp this summer, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible, but at the very latest, one month prior to your daughter’s Opening Day so that we may place another camper from the waiting list in her space.

  • Pre-Camp
    • Campers will perform a 7 day temperature log and screening form including COVID-19 symptoms and questionnaire. We will email you the Health Screening Form prior to the 7 day mark start. This form is required and must arrive with your camper, completed and signed, on Opening Day.
    • Counselors will get vaccinated if possible OR provide a negative PCR nasal swab test result within five days of their arrival to camp. Counselors will also complete the 7 day temperature log and screening form upon their arrival.
    • You are welcome to take advantage of a pre-camp lice check for your camper within 7 days of her arrival to camp at one of the participating Lice Clinics of America locations. Please click HERE to view a list of participating clinics. **We understand not everyone lives near one of these participating clinics. If your camper does not get pre-checked or is checked at a location different than listed, she will be re-checked whenever she arrives at camp.
  • Opening Day
    • We will have a “Drive-Thru Opening Day” with staggered drop off times by grade. All parents will be asked to stay in the car at drop off. We will assist in unloading camper belongings from your car at a designated spot after you drop off your camper. You will receive two luggage tags from us at least two weeks before your daughter’s Opening Day. Please attach one luggage tag to the handle of the trunk and one luggage tag to the handle of the duffle bag. All items must fit in the trunk or duffle bag. This includes all fans, bedding, reading pillows, toiletries, etc. Please no box fans or loose items!
    • We will be performing health screenings as campers come into camp. This will include a temperature check and turning in the COVID-19 Health Screening Form.
    • No airport pickups this year.
    • We are offering Opening Day bus transportation from Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Check your Final Instructions for more information.
  • Precautions while at camp
    • Masks – We will provide each camper and counselor with a mask upon their arrival. Everyone is strongly encouraged to wear face coverings over the nose and mouth whenever it is not feasible to maintain 6 feet of social distancing from another person not in the same cabin.
    • – This looks like wearing a mask on the way into the dining hall, inside Rec Hall, and other instances where 6 feet distance is unattainable.

    • Daily temperature checks will be conducted every morning by the counselors in the cabin.
    • Campers will eat in the dining hall mixed within their grade level.
    • Increased amount of hand sanitizer stations throughout the camp grounds. Squirt in/squirt out of dining halls, cabins, and activities.
    • Cleaning heavy traffic areas more frequently. Bathrooms in general areas, doorknobs on certain buildings, chairs at all camp events, and heavily used activity equipment.
    • Deep cleaning of the camp in between sessions.
    • We are not allowing care packages, but do encourage sending a gift bag to your camper through the Commissary or Canteen. Only US mail and email through your CampinTouch account will be allowed.
    • No comings and goings of campers throughout the term. Late arrivals/early departures are okay.
  • Closing Day
    • The Awards Ceremony will be with campers only and will be recorded or streamed for parents viewing.
    • Campers will be picked up in a drive-thru fashion similar to Opening Day drop off. Staggered times by grade between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. More information to come.

If you have any questions or concerns about your daughter attending camp this summer, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. You may call or email us at 830-238-4660 or office@campmystic.com.

Please take care of yourselves and continue to pray for faith, resilience, and for the care and love of one another. We trust that God’s faithfulness will sustain us always. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” Romans 8:28

    March 3, 2021

We are so excited camp is just around the corner!

At this point in time, we are still planning on wearing masks this summer when we are not with our cabinmates and social distancing is not feasible.

We will get information to you as soon as we can. We are working through our protocols and guidelines amidst the new information released by Governor Abbott. We are waiting on new guidelines from the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Governor’s office in order to make the best decisions for our campers, counselors, staff and families. You are always welcome to contact our office with more in depth questions and concerns. 830-238-4660 or office@campmystic.com.

    January 20, 2021

We feel so blessed to have managed COVID-19 through summer 2020 and are thankful to report that no cases occurred among our campers, counselors and staff while at camp.

As of right now, we will follow the guidelines still in place from last summer that you can find outlined below and on the Frequently Asked Questions page. We will finalize our protocols for 2021 as we get closer to camp and as we receive new orders from Governor Abbott.

At this time, we are planning on all terms running as scheduled. 1st, 2nd and 5th terms: 30 days. 3rd and 4th terms: 13 days. Click here for the 2021 dates.

THE FOLLOWING PROTOCOLS WERE USED IN THE SUMMER OF 2020 AND MAY BE USED AGAIN IN 2021:

      • Opening Day

        1. We will have a “Drive Through Opening Day”. We will recommend just campers and one parent driver for the drop off. All parents will be asked to stay in the car at drop off. We will assist in unloading camper belongings from your car at a designated spot after you drop off your camper.
        2. We will be performing health screenings as campers come into camp. This will include temperature checks and a questionnaire about symptoms and contact with anyone who may have had the virus.
        3. All buses were cancelled for 2020 as we did not have the capacity to properly screen each camper in each city before they get on the bus. We will keep you posted on the status of buses for 2021.
        4. No airport pickups this year.
        5. We will have staggered drop off times by age groups (more info to follow).
        6. We will be giving much more detailed instructions prior to Opening Day.
      • Precautions at Camp

        1. Daily temperature checks will be conducted every morning by the counselors in the cabin.
        2. Increased staff training about health concerns. Which will include recognizing the symptoms, reporting to the nurses, and increased cleaning practices in the cabin.
        3. Updated fever protocols. We will isolate a camper if needed after full assessment and monitor for further needs.
        4. Increased amount of hand sanitizer stations. Squirt in/squirt out of dining hall and activities.
        5. Emphasis on more hand-washing for campers, counselors, and staff.
        6. Cleaning heavy traffic areas more frequently. Bathrooms in general areas, doorknobs on certain buildings, chairs at all camp events, and heavily used activity equipment.
        7. Deep cleaning of the camp in between sessions.
      • Restrictions on Staff

        1. Our kitchen staff, wranglers and maintenance staff will have much less interaction with the rest of camp this summer.
        2. Our counselor time off will be focused within our 725 acres, as we will be trying to minimize any interaction outside of camp. We are working on ways that they will be able to get the rest they need without leaving camp.
      • Comings and Goings

        1. In past years, we did allow some campers to be able to leave for a short amount of time to attend an important school or family function and then return to camp. This year we will not be able to allow it, as it does increase the chance of the virus coming in.
        2. Campers arriving late and campers leaving early are okay.
      • Deliveries & Mail

        1. We are working with our delivery companies to make sure that they have safeguards in place to help prevent the virus from coming into camp.
        2. This summer, we are not allowing packages. Only US mail and email will be allowed.
      • Closing

        1. In 2020, the awards ceremony was with campers only.
        2. Organized drive through pick up procedures similar to opening day, where parents will be asked to remain in their cars, and we can load all trunks and other belongings in.
        3. We also recommend having the camper quarantine when they get home for 10 to 14 days.

These things may change, either by a mandate from the Texas government, from things getting better as the summer goes along, or medical innovations that could help us better fight the virus.

We know these months of worry and uncertainty have been hard on all of you. Thank you for being so supportive of us and hopeful about camp. You inspire us, and we want you to know how blessed we are to partner with such wonderful families.

If you have any questions or concerns about your daughter attending camp this summer, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. You may call or email us at 830-238-4660 or office@campmystic.com.

Please take care of yourselves and continue to pray for faith, resilience, and for the care and love of one another. We trust that God’s faithfulness will sustain us as always. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” Romans 8:28
