Things to Do With Your Time Off

Here are a few things that some of our international staff have enjoyed doing in the past:

Hunt:

Crider’s Rodeo & Dancehall – 3 minute drive from the camp. On Saturday nights, they have a rodeo at 8:00pm and dancing from 9:00pm to 1:00am. The dancehall entrance fee is $10 each. I am not sure about the rodeo entrance fee.

Ingram:

(20 minute drive)

Ingram Dam – This small town is in between Hunt and Kerrville. There isn’t that much too it, but some of our staff have enjoyed going to the Ingram Dam. It is a public swimming area. Local people like to go there and hang out, swim & slide down the dam. – Click here for pictures.

Kerrville:

(30 minute drive)

Our international staff has not found our closest city to be all that much fun. There are restaurants and bars in town, but as far as entertainment, there is not that much to do. But the Kerrville Convention & Visitors Bureau does post special events that may be interesting.
Walmart – A lot of our staff goes here just to get basic items that they need.
Movie Theater – Rio 10 Movie Theater.

Bandera:

(1 hour drive)

I didn’t originally include this small Texas town in my list and was told by Damian Koza (Summer 2022) that it was a big mistake! Bandera is a town that was founded by Polish immigrants in 1855. They have a strong Polish heritage. There are museums, places to eat, and the 2nd oldest Polish Catholic Church in the United States.
